1. Tricks against snails - the list

-- install snail traps: beer trap, oat flakes in water

Garlic against snails in the garden bed

-- in spring first put garlic cloves around a field so that only the tip of the garlic clove is sticking out, at the end you can harvest garlic and have the field always without mildew, moreover without aphids, maggots, mites, snails, caterpillars [web45].

Garlic: Against aphids, maggots, mites, snails, caterpillars and even powdery mildew helps: a) stick it into the soil except for a small tip or b) boil a garlic broth (cook for 1 hour, then let it cool), and spray [web45].

More tricks against snails: beer trap - digging trick before winter - watering only in the morning - oat flakes in water -- copper wire or copper foil

-- digging garden beds before winter+eggs will freeze+die: snails lay their eggs in the ground in autumn, and when in late autumn at the end of November / beginning of December the soil is loosened with a digging fork the snail eggs freeze to death in winter [web03]

-- watering only in the morning: one should water only in the morning, not in the evening, because the snails need the damp night soil for locomotion. If watering only in the morning the surface of the bed remains much drier and there are fewer snails [web03]

-- Oat flakes in water attract snails which then are not attacking the other plants [web84]

-- Copper wire or copper foil against snails: If a copper wire is laid at the edge of a garden bed or a copper wire or a copper foil is laid out, this is to prevent snails from crawling into the garden bed: Copper wire or copper foil on the vegetable patch repels snails: When the snails crawl over the copper bed, the copper oxidizes through the snail slime. This creates an irritating substance, so that snails don't crawl any further [web85].

Ants dig tunnels in the soil, loosen and aerate the soil, dispose of dead plant material, also disperse plant seeds, drink the sap of aphids, can spread diseases and invade houses.

Fragrant herbs against ants: Ants drive away the strongly scented herbs lavender, chervil, thyme and mint, because they don't like the scents. You can plant these herbs at the house, then the ants won't come anymore, or you can plant these fragrant herbs directly at the ant burrow, then they disappear because of the scent that the ants don't like.

Fragrant flowers and leaves against ants: flowers and leaves of lavender and other strong-smelling plants is also effective against ants

Coffee grounds against ants: ants don't like coffe grounds, you can place them directly on the anthill or across the ant trail or put a ring of coffee grounds around endangered plants.

Chalk is blocking ants: A thick chalk line on the doorstep blocks ants, but the chalk line must be renewed again and again. Ant trails can be interrupted with chalk lines and thus persuade the ants to move.

Split instead of sand against ants: If ants remove the sand between pavement slabs, you can install grit into the cracks, which the ants cannot remove.
